Annex XIII of the EU Battery Regulation outlines the specific information that must be included in the Battery Passport. These attributes are strictly categorized by who is allowed to view them.

Access Control Levels (RBAC)

Public

Accessible to anyone who scans the QR code, including consumers.

Restricted

Accessible only to independent operators, dismantlers, and certified recyclers.

Authorities

Accessible only to notified bodies and market surveillance authorities.

1. General Battery Information Access: Public

Data Point Description
Manufacturer NameRegistered trade name and postal address.
Battery CategoryLMT, EV, or Industrial.
Manufacturing FacilityLocation of the cell manufacturing plant.
Date of ManufactureMonth and year.
WeightTotal weight in kilograms.
ChemistryBattery chemistry (e.g., NMC, LFP).

2. Sustainability & Environmental Access: Public

Data Point Description
Carbon Footprint DeclarationTotal CO2e per kWh, broken down by life cycle stage.
Performance ClassThe carbon footprint performance class (A-G).
Recycled ContentPercentage of Cobalt, Lithium, Nickel, and Lead recovered from waste.
Due Diligence ReportLink to the supply chain due diligence policy.

3. Performance & Durability Access: Authorities & Operators

This data is highly technical and restricted to ensure IP protection while allowing valid third parties to assess battery health.

State of Health (SoH)Current capacity compared to original capacity.
Cycle LifeExpected number of charge-discharge cycles.
Internal ResistanceInitial internal resistance and evolution over time.
Energy ThroughputTotal energy expected to be delivered over lifespan.

4. End of Life & Dismantling Access: Recyclers

Data strictly for certified dismantlers and recyclers to safely handle end-of-life batteries.

Data Point Description
Dismantling ManualDetailed instructions for safe removal of the battery pack.
Safety MeasuresInstructions for handling fire risks or chemical leaks.
Component CompositionDetailed breakdown of materials in cathode, anode, and electrolyte.
